Algarve Showroom
“Artistic Algarve”
In 2001, maintaining the continuous investment in work spaces, the Algarve was the next step where Barreiros & Barreiros remained for more than 7 years. Located on the Estrada Nacional 125, it was an important milestone for starting business in the south of the country.
It closed its doors in the economic crisis of 2008 and in 2025, the Algarve is once again in the spotlight with a new space. An innovative showroom with an ‘Algarve Artístico’ architectural concept. This new image and layout by Kroft Home brings out the warmth and serenity of the Algarve in a subtle and elegant way, with an artistic and contemporary approach. It elevates the customer experience, focusing on the essence of nature and art as the centrepieces of the space.
A fresh start in the south of the country
The closure of the Algarve showroom in 2008 was a negative point in Barreiros & Barreiros’ history that João Barreiros would like to change. At the time, the Algarve suffered greatly from the economic crisis and the company couldn’t afford a drop in sales. He decided to close the shop and only offer street sales with the current saleswoman in the south, Paula Dias.
Seventeen years have passed and the work carried out in the Algarve market has begun to bear fruit. In 2024 the search began for a space to open a showroom for customer service. The Estada Nacional 125, with its excellent visibility, parking and travelling conditions, opened its doors once again to house a new Barreiros & Barreiros space.
“The new unit reinforces Barreiros & Barreiros’ commitment to being ever closer to professionals who value design, quality and authenticity. Visit the showroom and discover a space where every project begins with soul.” – João Barreiros
A new vision, a new concept
Barreiros & Barreiros, always thinking about the future rather than the present, decided to invest in the total renovation of a space to create a totally innovative showroom concept. With the help of Kroft Home, a distinctive, modern and cosy showroom was designed, totally different from the rest of the company’s showrooms. Here, you can breathe in the Algarve breezes, tradition, natural elements and the purity of the materials.
The essence of interior design
“This project is uniquely thought out, with a creative approach that involves every detail, from the decoration to the layout and choice of materials. I have used an organic and harmonious decorative language, which will integrate perfectly into the space, creating a natural fluidity between the elements. The design will be carefully crafted to emphasise the uniqueness of the showroom, transforming it into an innovative and welcoming space. The selection of materials will be made with attention to detail, prioritising aesthetics and functionality, while the layout will be designed to optimise flow and provide an impactful visual experience. This proposal aims to offer an original, engaging and memorable space, with a creative and distinctive execution.” – Suse Cordeiro | Founder of Kroft Home
Concept: ‘Terracotta & Texture – The Artistic Algarve’
Inspired by the warm, terracotta landscapes of the Algarve, this showroom will convey the essence of the coastline, bringing out the sandy tones and pinkish nuances of the earth. The choice of materials and textures – such as stone and rustic finishes, soft fabrics and organic wallpaper patterns – creates a cosy and sophisticated atmosphere.
The colour palette oscillates between terracotta tones, soft browns, dry greens and touches of soft blue, reflecting the balance between land and sea. These tones are visually cosy, but also versatile for presenting textiles and wallpaper, highlighting the colours without overpowering them.
Space and furniture design
On a first visit to the space, Kroft Home began the creative idealisation of the space. This is not a conventional showroom, it’s a space of inspiration. After several meetings, we approved the concept and the final plan, which centres on four fundamental pillars:
Sensory experience: a corner where customers can touch and feel different textures. The furniture is all personalised, with velvet finishes and natural fabrics, inviting customers to explore in comfort.
Organic aesthetic: Work tables and displays will maintain a minimalist and functional aesthetic. Each piece will have an exclusive touch, with organic or irregular shapes, inspired by the natural erosion of coastal rocks.
Artistic vibe: Wall panels and murals in abstract and geometric patterns will add an artistic touch to the space, creating a visual experience that connects with the creative side of the showroom. An accent wall, perhaps in terracotta tones, could serve as a backdrop for the collections, highlighting the brand and the artistic concept.
Accessories and details: Vases and local plants, such as miniature olive trees or cacti, will reinforce the connection with nature and add a fresh touch to the showroom.
The construction process
Following approval, Barreiros & Barreiros, in partnership with Kroft Home, began the process of carrying out the project. For six months, between breaking up rooms, creating walls, laying new flooring, etc., the project idealised on paper began to come to life with each visit to the building site. It took months of hard work to reach the final stage: decorating the space.
The moodboard: selecting materials
During numerous visits to Lisbon, Barreiros & Barreiros and Kroft Home met to get ideas and select materials for the decoration of the space. In this case, the most challenging part was selecting items from all the brands for the same space and connecting them with the same concept.
Each area of the showroom was designed according to the artistic concept, colour palette and combination of natural materials in order to achieve perfect harmony. Thought out step by step, all the zones came together and the result was absolutely magical.
Decorating the space
After finalising the structural work, the interior decoration process began with the carpentry and upholstery work. The customised furniture, from carpentry to upholstery, was developed by Kroft Home, which was present at every stage of the project. The wallpaper in all the rooms was installed by Roberto Rigor and the entire space was fitted out by Custódio Martinho.
