Escape Studio
Partnership
The aim of the partnership
The essence of the initiative is to give visibility to an emerging Portuguese artist, challenging him to incorporate the beauty and texture of textiles into his artistic expression. This collaboration aims to valorise Portuguese contemporary art, while at the same time reinforcing the brand’s identity through innovation and aesthetic sensitivity.
Soraia Lopes, founder of Escape Studio
After researching visual artists, Benedita Barreiros came across Soraia’s work on social media. Passionate about the texture of her paintings and the subtlety of her plaster art, they immediately made a connection and opened the door to such a rewarding partnership.
Soraia had just opened her new atelier, Escape Studio – @escapestudio.sl, when Barreiros & Barreiros discovered her beautiful art. Her passion for fabrics and decoration after a first visit to the showroom was an important starting point for the partnership.

‘PATH’ Textured Art x Luxury Textiles
“I’ve been passionate about the arts ever since I was little. That’s why I’m introducing you to my Escape Studio, which is literally my escape, my little safe space where I can switch off from everything.” – Soraia Lopes
The selection of fabrics
Together, Barreiros & Barreiros and Escape Studio immersed themselves in textures, patterns and timeless designs from the various brands the company represents. After several hours of research, the team selected thirty fabrics to develop thirty different paintings. Brands such as de le Cuona, Élitis, Jim Thompson, Lizzo, Pepe Peñalver, Pierre Frey and Zimmer + Rohde took part in this initiative far from knowing the marvellous result.
The creative process
Before starting to create the paintings, Barreiros & Barreiros selected the destination for each painting. Together, they studied each client’s style and projects to create a personalised artwork compatible with their taste. In a moodboard phase, each painting was presented with the vision of being displayed in an important place for the client, be it a personal or professional location.
The size of the painting was chosen for its ease of transport and incorporation into existing decor.
After four months of sharing opinions and visiting Soraia’s studio, the challenge was successfully completed. Each painting tells a unique story, an elegant and successful journey.
The pattern has been meticulously wrapped around the textured artwork without taking away from its prominence.
All the paintings are different and dated with a limited edition code.
Delivery to clients
To celebrate 30 years as a company, João Barreiros made a point of personally delivering all the paintings with a personal letter of special thanks for the successful partnership that Barreiros & Barreiros has created with each one. All the clients were grateful and loved the gift.
